If you're on the hunt for authentic Chinese cuisine in Kuala Lumpur, look no further than Restoran Meng Kee, nestled conveniently on Old Klang Road. Known for its bustling atmosphere and hearty fare, this restaurant has cemented itself as a local favorite for good reason.

The menu is a tantalizing exploration of flavors, featuring dishes that are sure to make your taste buds dance with delight. Among the standout offerings, the Steam Lala Clams are a must-try, delicately steamed to perfection and priced at a mere MYR 22.00. The rich flavors of the sea are beautifully complemented by the restaurant's signature Specialist Tofu, exquisitely marinated and grilled, arriving with vibrant seasonal vegetables at just MYR 15.00.

For those who find solace in the comfort of homestyle cooking, the Steam Minced Pork (东菜蒸猪肉) for MYR 20.00 is an excellent choice, while the Kangkung Belacan—a spicy stir-fried water spinach dish—at MYR 15.00 offers a vibrant kick that pairs wonderfully with any meal.

The dining atmosphere is lively and inviting, particularly during the weekends when families and friends come together to enjoy hearty meals. Many guests, like Richard Ho, express a deep appreciation for dishes like the ginger steamed fish head, a flavor powerhouse that’s reputedly worth the visit alone. Be prepared for busy weekends, though! Arriving early or having a bit of patience is key, as the restaurant tends to be packed with eager diners.

Patrons have praised the Roast Duck for its perfectly crispy skin, with reviews highlighting the culinary skills that come together to deliver such a well-executed dish. Just like Sue Teoh, who was captivated by the steamed chicken, you’ll find that every dish carries the essence of traditional Chinese flavors, meticulously prepared and generously portioned.

Whether you're a local or a traveler seeking the true taste of Chinese heritage, Restoran Meng Kee promises an affordable and delicious dining experience that won't disappoint. Remember, the parking may present its own challenge, but the delectable journey of flavors that awaits makes every effort worthwhile.

So grab your chopsticks and prepare to indulge, as this gem on Old Klang Road offers a comforting retreat into the heart of authentic Chinese cuisine!

Another great food store on the Old Klang Road. Ordered their famous curry fish, fried tofu and roast duck, and love all of it. Curry is very creamy and you can have two to three bowl of rice with the curry alone. Roast duck skin is very crispy and nit oily at all. 3 of us with rice and drinks costs abt RM130, very reasonable with the big portion, highly recommended.

Been here mostly for fish head but had steamed chicken today. Tasted good but a bit delayed because it's dinnertime on weekend. Steamed half chicken Rm40, signature tofu and vegetables RM28.

I keep finding myself back at this place; that ginger steamed fish head alongside the lala is phenomenal - honestly, a reason to go by itself. Just be aware, it gets packed on Saturdays and Sundays, meaning you’ll likely need patience or an early arrival. This spot always comes through with good eats - it doesn’t cost a fortune, really. It isn’t fancy, however if you need familiar flavors without emptying your wallet, they nail it each visit.

First time trying this famous restaurant. Parking is quite challenging but still manageable when early dinner hours like 6pm. Parking is along the road side. The best recommendation is their steam sung fish head only. The rest is average especially the duck. Price for the fish head for our family is like RM35 and personally is affordable and reasonable and delicious.

This is my third time visiting this shop, and the food has always been delicious. But more importantly, the service we received was outstanding. A big thank you to Phat and Soo in particular, is incredibly kind, well-mannered, and a great listener when taking orders. We truly appreciate the respectful and helpful service. Thank you to the Meng Kee management for hiring such excellent staff!
